Titaya’s Thai Cuisine: Northern Thai Comfort That Hits Close to Home
If you’re craving bold, authentic Thai flavors right here in Austin, Titaya’s Thai Cuisine delivers hard. Located just off North Lamar, this longstanding local favorite manages to serve up dishes that feel as close to Thailand as you’ll get without a passport.
My go-to? The Khao Soi. A rich, golden curry broth cradling perfectly chewy egg noodles, topped with crispy fried noodles, pickled mustard greens, and red onions. It tastes almost identical to the bowl I had in Chiang Mai at Khao Soi Mae Sai….and that’s saying something. Of all the khao soi I’ve tried in the States, Titaya’s version is the closest to the real thing.
But don’t stop there. The Sweet Corn Taro Fritters are a sleeper hit, crispy, lightly sweet, and totally addictive. And the Chicken Larb? Packed with fresh herbs, lime, and just the right kick of heat, it’s unapologetically authentic and totally satisfying.
Titaya’s isn’t trying to reinvent Thai food, it’s staying true to the roots, and doing it incredibly well. Whether you’re a Thai food purist or just here for the flavor, this place is a must.
