KESSHO: Asian-Inspired Gelato That’ll Ruin You for All Other Desserts

This Asian-style gelato truck is turning heads (and spoons) with unexpected, bold flavors like Guava Lime, Mango Sticky Rice, and Vietnamese Coffee, plus house-made chocolate that I will absolutely be going back for. I visited their South 1st location recently and can confirm, it lives up to the hype and then some.
Let’s talk flavors.
I started with a combo of Guava Lime and Mango Sticky Rice, and it’s the best decision I’ve made all summer. The Guava Lime is refreshing and zingy/tart in the best way, like a guava margarita but gelato. The Mango Sticky Rice? Unreal. It’s creamy and coconutty with chewy bits of sticky rice folded in, and it tastes exactly like the dessert it’s named after but colder and somehow better. I loved it so much I bought a pint to take home, and I’m not ashamed to admit I finished it in two days. (Okay, one.)
They also offer rotating specials and rich chocolatey options, which I didn’t try this time, but based on what I did have, I trust they know what they’re doing.

KESSHO has two trailers in Austin:

- South Austin: South 1st Food Court, 601 W Live Oak St (Wed, Thurs, Sun: 12–9pm | Fri–Sat: 12–10pm)
Both locations are casual and easy to swing by for a sweet treat, whether you’re on your lunch break, post-dinner hunt, or just in a gelato mood (no judgment, same).
Even better? You can also find their pints at select local grocery stores, which means you don’t have to leave the house to get your fix. Dangerous knowledge, I know.
